My aunt use to live by Island Avenue the cross street off E Lomita Blvd and S Avalon Blvd there was some one that use to fly some nice kits of rollers. And I was wondering who that was? It was a couple of street down my aunt house. Every time I when to my aunt house I would of stay in the front yard looking at his kits. There's a school by Fries Avenue and the birds were in the back of the school like in the North-East side of the School.
The person live by Marine Avenue or very close to this street.

I grew up in Wilmington Ca, the guy you are seeking is Steve Lord but he no longer has pigeons. I use to buy birds from him when I was a kid back in the early 80's.

Steve Lord lived around the corner from Friez Avenue school. He flew Paul plaques, and Houghton birds if I am correct he still lives in the same location but he no longer has birds.

I'm sure it's the same guy I'm talking about. My aunt live in front of Friez school and the birds were in the other side like in the back of the school.
I remember those birds been deep and fast and I always wanted to visit him. Too bad he doesn't have rollers any more.

I lived in Wilmington from 62 to 90. I lived on the North side of town (north of Lomita south of Alavon) by Broad Ave school.
Steve Lord AKA Winnie lived off of Fries Ave (pronounced Freeze Ave to the locals). He flew Mckenzie (sp) birds. I think Juan Navarro also flew this line years ago. They go back to true old Penson blood.
Back in the day there were some great flyers in Wilmington. We, as kids use to get commies and give them to a guy named Dick Berg who lived by the cementry off of Eubank. He would use them to train his red tails back then. He'd let us use a few pair of his breeders each. We would take them home, put a gang of fosters behine them and pump the s--t out them, then we would swap them amoung us so we all could babies from all the pairs. There use to be a guy who hung around Dick's house from time to time. Regular sized guy with a long beard and always a cup in his hand and we would ask Dick "if you have all these breeders here (he kept them in his garage)where do you keep you kit birds at?" He told us if we wanted to see his birds fly we would have to go over to his friends house in Lakewood, cuz thats where his friend flew them out. Turns out his name was Bob Scott. If only we knew what we had then, but like I said there were alot of really good birds in Wilmington back then. Problem was very, very few guys if any kept them straight over the years.
