Hello fellas. I am so frustrated. I atttended the NCRC show this past weekend and talked to some people in the club that said that they were flying. I asked them if they were having any problems with the BOP and they replied its not as bad. So, today I tried to fly and B 4 U knew it, they were on me. I dont even know if I am going to be able to compete this year. I have never been a quitter in anything that I do but I am seriously thinking about given up something that I love doing. I mean what the use. Cant fly, train or do anything else to get my birds ready. It tears me up to see the squabs grow up only to be taken away. Is it fair to say that flying rollers is over for most inner city flyers? Can somebody please give me some words of encouragement? God knows I need it.In addition, our club fly starts this weekend and I have absolutely nothing to fly.

BigWilly, what area of North Sac do you live in??? I live right next to highway 80...I live between Rio Linda and Marysville Blvd...I get hit a lot by BOP during this time of the year so i lock them down till the end of spring that's when it's BOP free...I only got hit once during the summer of last year other then that eveything is all good...When i get a kit of Whittinghams and Fireballs kit up i'll let you come by to check them out...Right now i aint got no birds to fly til mid spring...Just starting out with 4 pair right now and that's all i need to start my team with...Talk to you Later...Peace

Hang in there big fella. This is a sad part of the game we play. The trick these days seems to be breeding a lot to cover your losses. Also, locking down for as long as necessary. Ive seen some post about having a "cull kit" to fly first to test the waters ,so to speak. Dont give up Willy, I bet some of your club members might be able to donate a few birds to you.
theres a learning curve. you will get thru it.

Mobile loft flying is another viable option also. I started flying mobile because there is so much timber around my house that the BOP could easily ambush my birds before they had a chance to clear the trees. Were talking tropical forest eighty to a hundred feet tall. I take my mobile box and hook to my four wheeler and find me a clear cut with at least fifty yards around me to see the evil vermin. I still have lots of hawks but I fly a kit of Orientals or two before I ever let out a Birmingham. I havent lost a bird to an attack in two years now. I have lost some to overflies. But I think the mobile helps to home them some too because I fly as far as ten mile from the house and all inbetween. I had a bird show up a week later at the house in the kit box this year from an overfly. Many times though staying out overnight around here is the kiss of death because of owls.
