With out risk there is no reward. You are not a lone in losing birds. That is the name of the game when we chose to fly. Ask yourself if you would rather lose them penned up or lose them while flying? I like seeing mine in the air where they should be, how about you?
Sorry for you lost, been there many times. Just gotta keep pushing on and wish we can breed more of the same.
Thor
P.S. Guys who are able to fly their breeders when ever they chose don't know how lucky they really are.

I know how you feel I'm left with 13 my self and not good ones. They always take your best ones right after they roll or going back to the kit. Like they have been working the most they don't have the strenght to fly faster so they are easier to get.

I was gong to let my birds out today they have been lock up for a week since i got hit last week,so what i did this morning i went up the roof of my house took my binoculars and scope out the mountains tops, the sky, trees and sure enough i spotted three red tail hawks way far as i can see with my binoculars because here they don't bank on trees like other places i hear about they always on the wings and attack from up there,so i didn't let them out, came out again and scope them out at 2pm and sure enough i saw them again and a falcon.I said wow they are really hungry and waiting for my birds ,so i didn't feed them ...the BOP that is...and thats how i have to play it from now on trying to outsmart them.spotting them first. some days I will get hit and some days i will not because I'm on to them..I have to look out for my wings.. its hell.I feel for you guys. ---------- Ralph....

No, there is not a wing left! There was just about an inch of bloody bone sticking out from his shoulder!
Neighbor hung 5 new bird feeders under their trees right across the fence! Have noticed a hawk there chasing the song birds 3 days in a row now! They is a cedar right next to the feeders, and the hawk gets right on them before they know it! Smorgasborg!!!! ---------- Val

I was lucky today, I put up my oldest holdover kit and it was flying about 200 feet. about 15 minutes later here comes a pair of falcons, my rollers came down so fast right onto the pen roof. I think they are learning that the falcons never mess with them on the roof. at least thats what I'm hoping they learn, I have some that just dive down like a tippler when they are over 1000 feet when a falcon or hawk shows up. I guess thats why they are still alive a year later

Lost two from my A team. Haven't flown them in over 2 weeks and decided to let them out today, but was shortly attacked by 4 coopers. Lost 2 today. Aside from this the team worked very well and had some big breaks, hopefully I'll still have them around for the comp days. I'm holding them down 2-3 weeks. ---------- Efren Lopez SGVS

I flew 8 birds this morning. Two holdovers and some youngins all under 8 weeks. Had released a yellow/white flights for the 1st time and was afraid she just might attract a sneaky BOP. They like to hide in trees and swoop down swiftly on unsuspecting birds in my neck of the woods.
Good thing that yellow squeaker was very, very hungry & thirsty! Trapped in less than 5 minutes while the others took off to the air to handle their business.
