i have some roller pigeons and wanted to train them but then .....theres this hawk that keeps attacking whenever i let my pigeons out. im thinking its a sharp shine hawk. Its a smaller kind of a hawk. so i was wondering that when or what time is the best to let my rollers fly without being eaten? any answers?

what time you let your birds out is the time he will be there let them out at a diffrent time, because he knows what time you let up your birds. ---------- 454 TRIPLE "G" LOFT L.P.R.C

When the hawks are around here I've found they aren't so hungry and determined to make a kill during the hours late in the day.Right now sunset is 6pm here so I'd bust em out around 4:30-5:00pm even as late as 5:30.If there is a light rain and low cloud all the better.Never had a sharp-shinned take a bird yet but they can sure cause kitting problems.Mr Cooper is the worst hawk around here, but not nearly as bad as the peregrine falcons. They are the most efficient killers if they are hungry they don't miss. rockx, welcome, like Kel I try to fly a little later, after noon at the earliest, hoping they have scored and are not hungry, trouble is they will use your birds to train their young in the art of killing. The Cooper's will hit and cripple but not kill, they let their young finish the job. Hate it, but its just their nature, so try to out smart them.

I flew yesterday, but today when I went out I looked around to check on the Blackbirds,Doves and such. They were everywhere. Then I spotted the EVIL DEMON BIRD sitting in the cottonwood. He ignored the Doves and all the rest. There must of been 10 to 15 Doves sitting in the Mullberry tree. He was just waiting for me to turn out the Pigeon ala cart.
He passed on the natural meal before him and I refused to feed him. He`s probably hungry tonight. Oh well......... ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts
