Look at my roller door I made. Got the idea from my neighbor! They can only go in one way and can't get back out. target="_blank">

They cant, they have absolutely nothing to grab on too. It is only 7 1/2 inches wide. No birds have ever gotten out of these yet!

Kop, The drop traps are a great idea if built correctly. I have used them for years as well as other fliers in my area. Here is a pic of mine. It doesnt show much, but as you can see, you cant see out of it. I build mine 5" wide X 7" tall.. Now and then I will have a youngster get out that I just placed in the kitbox, but it is rare..The way yours is designed, you may have problems.
The drop is to the left of the bird.

I bet they also get out. Theres always at least 1 tricky bird that will figure it out. the rest will follow. I`ve never used this system but I`m sure it is a good system. Just needs a little modifying. You appear to be very handy with the woodworking tools. And I`m sure you will figure it out if you have any problems. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

I see it coming Val. Went out and enclosed the loft again. Had it open today for them to enjoy some natural light.

Be sure and put a door that you close every day. I use bob traps mostly and preach to people that dont have doors to close them up. Of course last year I didnt take my own advice and had a bird out overnight so I left the door down. Mr cooper came and killed four kit birds and made a couple more kill themselves and killed the bird that stayed out. Next time if he stays out overnight he is on his own. Better to lose one than loose half a kit.
Did you ever find your varmit?

I had a friend that had a coop go right in his trap also! Killed several birds! He had to retrain what was left to another kit box after that! They wouldn't go back in the old one! ---------- Val
