Hey Robby, I believe the differnce between spangles and mottles are that spangles are white bodied and Mottles are solid bodied, both of them presenting the splash markings on their wings. ---------- Gary

Thanks Gary, I had heard somewhere that if it had white flites it was a spangle.

That bird is more than likely a Rec Red Mottle. A splash is born with the white and a mottle moults it in. Mottle is very prominant in Rec Reds. Not sure the terminology or the derivation of a spangle because I dont have or raise any but I do get alot of mottles. Rarely see a black mottle. They are usually splashes that are born with the white. I have had young Rec Reds that turned darn neer white sided after their first moult hat were self reds at 3 monthes old. he was born with a lazy eye and his name is LEFT EYE and he spins 10 to 30 ft plus once a minute
he is out of some Higgins and Reed birds
Also he never has Bumped in his flying career

Yeah Paul it's all cool. I was asked to judge the HDRC fly that day. Man the winds REALLY cheated the flyers,,it was blowing strong. A real bunch of COOL CATS. George what up. Yeah Ruben went to the lawn show.. R-LUNA
