The best thing to do is to get birds wich have shown themselves worthy of stocking. All strains breed some good birds and quite a few that are not worth much.Don't go by the family...go by what you have seen!!

If my goal was to win kit competitions and nothing else, I would go after the best Mason strain of birds I could find.

Why? Beacuse they break together better than any other family of pigeons I have ever seen. They also have a smooth, consistent, pleasing roll style.

It is my beleif that the Mason family of birds have descended from birds bred primarily for kit competitions while the Pensom birds descended from pigeons bred primarily for single bird competitions with speed as the primary goal. Breaking together with a group was not the primary consideration.

But then winning kit competitions is not my singular goal, although I have been toying with the idea of getting a few MAsons and flying a kit to see the rersults inmy own yard.

I hope to travel to England this summer and hang out for a couple of days with the guys in the birthplace of the breed with the aim of seeing how it has been done and is done at the origin of the breed.

Regards,
