If you are recieving the desired results then it is okay. I have found 14% works better for me.

I usually go with a mix - any thing with peas until they start rolling. Then gradually switch it to a wheat and milo mix. Once most are rolling, the feed is strictly just wheat and milo with the occasional breeder mix once every two weeks or when needed. Some families can't handle just wheat and milo. Find what works with yours and stick with it.

Does the higher protien help in performance. I have never competed and have been playing with feed off and on for six months or so. I feed pig grower pellets mixed with wheat and milo. I have adjusted up and down on percentages and have seen differences. The pig grower is 18%. What are the advantages/disadvantages to feeding straight seed for flyers versus a mix. It works wonders for raising good strong squeaks. A lot of he feeds some mention on here are cost prohibitive down here. I hear also on here people talking about "red" wheat. What is the difference. We can only get feed wheat and seed wheat. Seed wheat is about thirty dollars a fifty. Feed wheat is nine dollars a fifty.

You guys say wheat and milo, a few of my birds won't touch the wheat. I feed a mix now that has a little of every think but in several feeders they leave just the wheat. Am I getting bad wheat or what? In other feeders they leave corn and other leave peas but I thought they all liked wheat.
