I swung a deal on this building today. Gonna be the new home of Blue Dot Loft. 10x14 Should be more than adequate for my needs.
Rudy,Rob,Jake. Anyone need a kitbox. Have three that`ll be empty by September.

I will be hiring a company to move it. I may be dumb but I aint stupid. I still have a couple of months of breeding to do before I bring it home. Its been at the shop for 4 years. No leaks or wind damage,this is good. I dont think another two months will hurt it.Then with no pressure to finish I can take my time and do it the way I want. Gonna try to be as economical and ergonomic as possible. I see a lot of trays being built in my future. I guess the landscaping in the backyard will have to wait til I get the new landscape.

Kenny,
You planning to fly your kits out of this building, as well as use it for breeding? How about the floor? Keeping the solid floor or replacing it with wire? You said something about trays....I'm just curious whether the upfit of an existing structure is going to be more trouble than starting from scratch for my own needs in the future. Maybe I should talk to you in a couple months! LOL! Keep us posted.

Cliff,
I have had the dowel doors on my kitboxes for a season now and I really like them. Gonna build a trap over the door and go euro style. I have studied Hienes set up and I really like it. Will do something similar. I should be able to put all 15 of the breeder boxes on one end of the loft.
Still trying to decide how to work in the avairy. Thinking wire framed panels and hinges. Do a hide away aviary on the side of the building. Til I actually sit down with pencil and paper I wont know for sure what I am gonna do. With all of the space over head it will make for an interesting utilization.

Sweet loft,I bought one Jan of 07 and I really like it.. I was in your position wordering what to do but that was the fun part.. My loft is 8X12 and I have three kits on the inside. I also got some modifications like two skylights and doubble doors. the kit birds basically have a 4X12 and 8ft high run, this works really well when I cant fly.. also it gives my kit bird's a safe place till I get home to let them into there specific box, as I use a spunkit like the hommer guys over the small window.. The other thing "flooring" I use hard wood floors however I painted the enterior includding the floor... I use steel greates for the water and food, and cover the rest with poultry dust and "Dry Stall" and it works really well... good luck on your progress....

I havent brought it home yet. I gotta wait til I get done breeding.There is some dismantling of existing structures and pad prep before I even bring it home. BTW I got my first hatch from the last round today. Looking Like I`ll be getting it home mid July.

Due to financial considerations as well as gov`t red tape the building move has been delayed,til next weekend. Everything goes right it`ll be here by next Saturday. Gonna pour some footers for the skids this week.I want it nice and level. The difficulty level in moving this big old building is pretty high.
I have a lot of material gathered up already. Been saving it up for a while. When my oldest daughter moved back home this summer a large quantity of my materials and money went to building her a room in the garage.
This explains the financial deficit I was experiencing.
Fortunately I have a lot of connections and should be able to get some more material to finish it out. Main expense will be paint and sealers.
Bet I can do it for under a 1000 total cost.

I just got done designing the interior.
4 kit boxes, 16 indie breeder pans. Two roof vents two floor vents. Wire floors/trays in the kitboxes. Sold floored breeder pens. No lip on the doors for easy scraping. One complete side of the loft will be shuttered so I dont have to have an outside aviary.
When I button it up it will look like a storage building. One nice thing,the water line runs about three feet from it so I can have water and electricity!!!!!
Still just gonna have three kits. some times two is hard enough to deal with. I built the extra box for sorting purposes and the simple fact I have wished for an extra box on numerous occasions.
It is gonna be simple direct and cleanly designed.
The coolest thing is the kitboxes. When I walk in and flip on the light,they will all be right there in view, lined up in 6 nice neat rows on v perches, 80 square feet of hard spinning Texas Twisters baby!!

Guys,
I finally got it home and the refit can begin.
Johnny Bruce and Mike showed up to help get it set in place.
The guy who was driving the truck set it within 12 inches of where I wanted it so they were mostly there for morale support.
Do these clothes make me look fat?

Thanks for coming over Johnny.
I got that ugly shelf unit torn down. There was enough plywood on it to sheath the wall where the kitboxes are going. Its all cleaned up now. I got the light hung getting a couple of elec boxes in tomorrow. Got some good lumber from that shelf too.
Gonna start ripping down stock tomorrow.

OK heres a few pics.
It was dark and dirty. Had a nasty old shelf made of plywood and 2x4`s.
After the shelf was removed and a two bulb flourescent fixture was installed. I wired in a plug and the light to run off an extension cord (20` 12ga). I also put a new 30a breaker and GFI plug. Works great. The light didn`t even dim when I turned on the table saw. If I run juice to it the city will consider it habitable and taxable.Gonna put a window in the end wall.
Need some more screws.
Finishing touches on the plywood. I got enough plywood from the shelf to sheath this entire wall. I bought two sheets for the ends.

Opposite corner,now that you can see. Breeder boxes will be on this side.
Kitbox header. I got this all figured out where I wont get in my own way.
Last of 50 perches, 25 to go.
Got the last of the perches in and swept up about 25 pounds of sawdust.
