Hey all, I know I'm the old crankiest blowhard on this board, but I'm having trouble finding the wheat for all the chaff! The personal messaging has gotten a little out of hand from my point of view. I check the site searching for knowledge on rollers not all the other junk that seems to be cluttering the site so much lately. Tony, if I'm out of line then, I'm sorry and you may feel free to use a paddle, on my hands, please;-). I mean no disrespect to anyone, new or established.

When I want to send a personal message, I use email.
Everyone has a personal account gabe, and I just think that might be better.

Hey Thom, it seems to me that that is just the nature of these type message boards. Even the e-mail list have the same "problem" if you will. If you scan the archivesI`d bet you find its about a 40/30/30 split between usefull information /, random comments and praise for birds or a loft or setup /, and , the misc. personal messaging. If you are searching for a specific bit of information I`m sure its here and been posted. If not just ask.

The rest of us grumpy, blowhard, ill tempered `ol farts and wannabe farts will be glad to help...LOL

Well fellas ,

maybe the way to go forward with a site like this ........ would be to set up different sub- forums with sections on flying , breeding , lofts , health etc .. as well as a general talk section for everything not covered in the other roller related sections .... to be honest other hunting forums i drop into are all set up in this way and have private messageing facilitys for members .. no doubt this all costs ...... but it could be easily funded by donations from members

all the best

Butch, I'm sure you are correct with the percentage's, and you are more then likely right in the long run. I only frequent one board, this one, and I hate to sound like a spinster schoolmarm but lately it just seems like there are less and less post's on subject, rollers. I don't even mind post's that are labeled, "off subject", what I find abjectionable are the ones that are a private message and has nothing to do with the board but are directed to only one person. Like I said I'm an OLDFART!!

Chanticleer, I have no idea what the cost would be but it just seems that staying on subject would be cost effective. ;-) If I could chip in, I would.

Hey Thom, thanks for the suggestion! I know what you mean about weeding through the topics. Your topical forums idea may be the wave of the future for RPDC.

I will have to put some thought into it and see what the best way to proceed looks like...

In the mean time, I would like to get some more of everyones ideas for types of topical forums to create. I have some ideas of my own, but I need to hear from all of you. Thanks in advance for all suggestions!

Hey Tony, I'm glad you are not put out by my complaining, whining. Truth is all I did was point out the obvious, Lee, chanticleer, made the observation of what might be some great changes. Again I wish to reiterate, I think this site fills a great need for newbie, oldfart's, returning fanciers, and established contributors alike. I don't want it to degenerate, it works great as is! No disrespect, to anyone!

Hey Thom, Tony, all,
I remember way back when I waz a newbie, that was ................yesterday! LOL As a real recent newbie I have noticed almost every newbie, to the man/woman starts posting, asking the same questions. As y'all consider some specifics for the forum a Newbie section definitely needs to be considered ........result almost immediate newbie question answered and you "Old Farts" Thom won't have to keep on re-repeating stuff.
I'd like to add real quick Everyone has always had a super attitude when I have asked a question that's been asked and answered a million times.....I'm sure it was/is hard not to roll your eyes and think/say "Here we go again Boys!"
Sorry, had to cut my sermon short tonight, please excuse the verbosity!
Y'all probably already planned this!
