How valuable is "perch space" in your loft ?

For me its very crucial. As I only have room for 50 birds(25 per kit).I breed 60 a year so if i see a bird that is acting wrong not kitting just sloppy then it goodbye.I need the perches for more birds to prove them.

I probably have a dozen birds I shouldn't be hanging onto but the perch space is there so they are spared.BOPs keep the vacancy rate high.

The BOP give me plenty of "perch space" as well.

Perch space IS very valuable. I try and keep it to exactly 20 per kitbox. This way I have to keep STRICT management of my birds, and don't get over CROWDED. I don't want to make the MISTAKE of being a bird MONGER.........LOL

I'm with Jerry I have fourteen kit boxes capable of holding 242 birds without crowding.

George , it evolves more around what can be properly flown and also take in account the short days of Fall coupled by weather.
Too many kits (birds) and you cheat everything, there is definetly a balance point.
I find that three kits of youngsters is what I can do proper and is why I don't waste perch space on just anything ,along with that an old bird team that doesn't need to be flow nearly as often, come around Jan or so I want it honed into two teams.
I did six kits of youngsters one year, it was way too much and come late Fall and Winter they all got cheated trying keep the wing time on them, come late Spring only the best are left of the prior Springs breeding season.

I found that out last year trying to fly out 6 kits .... this year I will only keep 3 kits . this way I wont create the same problem I had last year.

Nice post Scott,
I only fly out of 4 kit boxes. 1 old bird 3 young bird. I find that with my busy schedule I do not have time to train out the 3rd young bird team. My goal has been to keep a B team of old birds, but I have never been able to produce enough old birds good enough to fill 2 boxes.
