I have a grizzle hen that is a consistant thirty footer she has a nice spin but its a little slower than i want I have a cock bird that spins faster than any ive seen but lacks the depth im looking for he's about 15 foot and hes freguent with great style. my Question is are these two birds culls or would you raise a round or two and try them. Both have good form and both kit well.

Ty,

If you are a beginner and those are the best you have. Use them until you have better. The key is to up grade what you have in the stock loft. If you have nothing in there, there isn't much to up grade is there.

Start with quality stock. Stock the best out of them. Continue to replace breeders as you go. Fly every thing out hard and you should do just fine.

My breeders now could be tomorrow's culls... just some thing to think about.

I am finally at the stage where I don't need to stock any more. It is about replacing them now.

Thor

P.S. Took me 7 long years to get here.

hi ty. thor is spot on you can only use the best you have.my no 1 cock is 14 years now .he is with out doubt the best producer in england.no one has as many offspring in stock as i do off one cock.he is g/father to 3 national champions.but he only rolls around 15 ft.i only used him because he had more activity than the rest of my birds.but any one will tell you i can fly birds as deep as any one.birds dont have to be deep to breed deep.

It's not the best i have but i dont consider either culls but i thought that they might produce what i want. I just wanted to get some feedback to see if anyone else had tried something similar They both are good birds but you know how we always want better. But they might be culls tommorow lol a true statement if ived heard one. Ty

You said that this are not your best, well I would only breed the best. By breeding your best only it will take you less time to achieve your goal. If you don't like them visit other lofts and see which ones you do like and buy the parents from the offspring that you like. There are too many good rollers out there to waist time in some that are ok.

I know a couple of guys that never want to change there family of birds because they think they can improve them. You can improve them but why do all the hard work when some one else did it. LOL

If he is the fastest you've seen, frequent and great style, and she is a consistant 30'er, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say put them to gether for a couple of rounds! Sounds like they could be a good match! Go with your gut feeling! JMO
