Well it depends if you take the eggs to be fostered. If you foster they can lay a set every week/week and a half. If you let them do it themselves, they lay another set in a different nest when the babies are about 2-3 weeks old. ---------- Andrew

They can breed as much as they can. Some breeders are slower at producing eggs, and some are in a flash. Yes, you'll need foster to take over those eggs while you are in the process of breeding the same pair.

Do pigeons get wore out by the end of the breeding season? It's been so long I forgot a lot of this stuff. Like I have said before, I was raising canaries for several years since I was in the city and couldn't have pigeons I wanted something to play with. Canaries if you let go over 3 times in a season the babies are the ones that suffer. You can get 5 clutches out of them but they don't feed as well after the 3rd clutch and the babies are real sickly and don't grow as fast or as big. I was wondering if anyone has noticed this with rollers?

If you keep them breeding through the moult period in August-September,feeding the young is hard on the parents and they often won't recover as well or as rapidly from the moult. It's better to give them a rest from August till January. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts

Every 10 days over here with the fostering out the eggs. I let my breeding pairs take their third round.
Young hens will lay every 10 days if fostered out. My birds start it right back up after you remove their eggs.
If all goes well, you'll get 3 rounds in a month from one pair w/ the help of fosters.

Birds will breed all their lives like us human...some even breed through the whole year...just like us..lol...until they will hit minipause like us human that that means no more reproducing youngs....well thats for lady...but for a guy when it gets to old no more inner strength (need viagra).....so usually birds will breed til they cant breed or not fertile anymore...my thoughts and opinion..

Chewy,
Sorry but if your birds breed during the molt... wow is all I can say. My birds will stop laying or be very slow during the moult.

When it gets very hot during the summer, the breeders will take a break and won't lay.
