WITH MY LUCK, WHY WOULDN'T THIS HAPPEN?? HE JUST FLEW OUT THE DOOR AND GOT BLOWN AWAY. I KNOW THE DIRECTION IT IS VERY WINDY; HE IS VERY TAME, AND I'M GOING OUT TO LOOK FOR HIM RIGHT NOW. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO CATCH HIM; WOULD HE EVER THINK OF COMING DOWN TO ME IF I HAD FOOD OR SOMETHING. HE HAS NEVER BEING HOMED OR EVEN BEEN OUT IN A FLIGHT PEN; I AM BUILDING THE FLIGHT PEN RIGHT NOW. HE WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 26/07, SO HE IS STILL FAIRLY YOUNG. ---------- Andrew

It's going to be very hard to get that bird of yours back. Since it had never been out and homed. It has no idea where it's at. If your birds is blown away and is faraway from your loft then there might not be a chance that it will come back. Make sure that all your breeders are kept lock so that they don't escape through the door.

I know just how you feel. I don't have a favorite bird, all of my are my favorites. But I had a Lavender cock get out a few days ago and haven't seen hide nor feather of him since. I hope you find yours. Makes you feel real bad and wondering where they are or what has happened to them.
Good Luck,
Bert

Andrew, Get a full wire cage and put it on top of the loft he came out of. Put in a few birds with some white on them, even some jumpy types. You must have a decent size fishing net. If he's in the neighborhood he will be looking for his mate or where he came from. Don't leave the cage unattended. Shake a feed can when you see him and try to get him to fly down to a feed tray with a small amount of grain in it.Use the net or open a door to the loft even if you have to lock up the other birds in their nest boxes. You want to get him in the neighborhood right away and until she gets so hungry that the loft is the only place to go! Best of Luck, Otis

Guess we ought to add don't let em out the first few times on windy days! I loose a few youngsters here in Okla. due to the wind in the spring! Just lost a rec. red last week! He went up for the first time, caught the wind, made a couple big circles and disappeared!
Hard lesson #407 and counting!LOL ---------- Val

Were you able to trapped it? Although a pigeon is tamed, but when it learn that it knows how to fly, it's a whole different story.

I'm glad you got that one back. I have lost hundreds to overflies, BOPs, and accidents. Just the name of the game when you fly.
