..stay out?? I let them out at about 9:30 a.m. this morning and only 2 of 7 are back in the kit. 3 are sitting on the roof of my house and 1 on a shed next door. One of my cocks flew for 30 minutes straight and I haven't seen him for about an hour 1/2 now. Will he show up or come back do you think?? How long do they stay outside. I didn't feed them yesterday!!

Hey Andrew, you have to train them to do what you want them to do. They are not going to read your mind. My birds usually trap within 30 seconds of landing.

That's because I conditioned them to come hauling butt and going through the traps when I shake the feed can and whistle. They don't even have to be that hungry if you are consistent in your trapping method.

Andrew, please call me at 1-417-935-4751, I am going to explain for you how to train a kit of rollers.

Good idea would be to cage them up on the roof and after 30 mins or so slowly open the cage and call them down to the trap. This is how I train my young birds. Same process for fliers who has been on a long lock down. Once they are dropping out of the cage and trapping in well, they are good to go. Don't blame to birds :=

Nah Tony I'm not going to bother you. I have listened to all of the posts and advice given to me from guys this site. You guys have all been very helpful. I think I have done a decent job, all of my birds have trapped in now but one. So I guess I did it kind of right! :) I will be flying them tomorrow too! :D

Hey Andrew, no bother. Andrew, based on what you said, you did not do it right. Don't kid yourself, yours birds should have trapped right away unless something prevented that from happening...

Kopetsa give the man a call,,you will come out a wiser man..
you doing ok,sometimes the birds that didn't eat the day before are still strong and if its there first day out they are confuse or frighten.or just being birds ,now day two will tell you what you doing right or wrong.but it won't help to hear a lil advise sometimes when you reading you have to read between the lines, but to hear one has only to listen.. ----------

Andrew.........to answer your question about trap training faster. First, your birds should be trap trained on COMMAND before I would let them fly. I already mentioned in a previous post on how I would trap train them. FIRST and foremost the birds should be trap from a settling cage. If you would like further HELP please feel free to e-mail me at: hdwindjammer@yahoo.com
I will gladly help you step by step if need be. You can always count on the veterans for quality help, just ask
