Ok,it usually takes up to 10 days for a hen to lay right??? Well i just recently got a pair about 3 days ago and some how i went to check on her today and woolaa she was sitting on her first egg already...Is that normal??? She's an 07...They werent original pair...They just recently got paired up...Let me here your guys input on this...

she was mated and was eggy before you got her.

When i bought her she was already sitting on eggs...I dont know how long she was sitting on the eggs for but the owner took off of her nest when i went to go pick her up...

Chai,Maybe she was only sitting one egg and hadn't laid the second one when you picked her up...??

I dont know but you know how hens expression are when there going to lay right??? with there tail down...When i picked her up she was just normal...I guess some hen just takes less then 10 days to lay...

If it was me, I would toss them eggs. Then again that is just me.

I recently took a photo of a great producing hen. She is mated to one of my favorite cock birds. Took this photo 3 days prior to her laying. All eggy hens will have this look. Well at least the ones over here.

It is a must to check the Hens in the kit box every month just to see if they are eggy or not. Not a big fan of blowing out their egg sack. You can usually feel the egg if you run your hands thru that area.
