I recently found a way to save some feed and I want to share it with you Guys and Gals.

I have a 4 pair individual that I recently built and the Birds were wasting a lot food .

but I bought some Chick feeders the kind that have a screw on Jar on top and they have small holes where the Birds have to stick there head in the holes to get feed .

Well it worked , now when I look in the tray underneath there is little to no Feed that fell through the wire.

The Birds cant swing there head around and toss the feed out and waste it.

with the price of feed as high as it is I was ready to stop using that individual cage .

Your right George. My birds also have been wasting a ton of food. Seems like most of the food are sliped down the bottom of the cage. Sometime I would just swipe them right back up and let them eat it. Come to think of it, food that have been waste per month is almost 50lb of feed that goes to waste.

Hey all, Recently a good friend encouraged me to post this tid-bit. I did not think it was worthy of the space needed to explain exactly what I was saying, but now in the vain started, (Thanks George). I have the Crown Breeding Cage System, wasted food has been a big problem and my solution, Orange Juice! The 96 ounce bottle of Minute Maid O.J. exactly fits between the cages in the Crown Breeding System. I cut opposing two inch holes at the height of the horizontal low point of the feeding section. I place the bottle in the section, mark the point of the lower horizontal bar, then draw a two inch circle and remove this material with an Exacto knife. I fill the container slightly below the circle, tilt and insert, being careful to insure that each compartment has full access to the feed. To prepare the bottle I fill it with hot tap water for ten minutes, as this will lossen the sticker on both sides, then peel the stickers off. I finish the clean up with a little Goo-Gone or simular product. My wife, says I need to build a clock to explain anything. Guess she is right, I hope this helps as it has cut my food loss drastically.

I just got some 4 by 4 cotainers about 8 inches high and drilled a 2 inch hole about 3 inches up on the side. fill with feed and put the lid on. NO WASTE. More birds use bigger square. It works great and saved me lots of money. About 1.98 for three

Any good container you can cut a small hole into (sufficient for the bird to stick his head) will do!As long as they can't swing their head and spill the food out of the container. They are forced to eat everything!!

I specially like half gallon milk containers. They even have the hole marked, all you have to do is cut it! "GOT MILK"? LOL.New comercial in the works!

the bullet drinker they sell on here probably would even work for feed. and it should let feed flow in as they eat it.

Luis, You are correct any container will work, I only mentioned the O.J. container because it fits the Crown Cage feed and water compartment snugly, and the handle is just right for the compartment. Other then that almost any container will work just fine.
