OK I paired up the birds gave them 4-1 and wormed them. I also gave them pro bios and some vitamin and electrolytes I did all that right before putting them together three days later just that pair an addition to the breeding loft. They have cold symptoms don't know if its canker or respiratory can I get some advise what is going on all the other birds are fine but them. I had to remove and separate from the loft help please!!!!

The cold symtons make it sound like a respiratory problem.
Honestly I'm not a big fan of multi symptom stuff.
I want to hit the problem with something that deals with what ever that problem is, if there isn't a problem I do nothing.

It is not canker or respiratory. I think those birds can’t fly from perch to perch and want to stay on the floor of the loft with somewhat feathers ruffled!! The best thing you can do is give them Amoxilline for 10 days. It is an effective antibiotic that will get them back to their old selves again. Do that also to the rest of your flock at one time. When mixing medication, make sure the waterer is made from plastic. Metal water containers reactive negatively with medication and could cause sour crop. Also hold off on giving them bath water and hold off on the grit until the 10 days are done. After that de-warm your birds. You should start medicating your birds for preventative measures 30 days before breeding…and I can assure you that you will not need to medicate them during the breeding season and you will not have issues with canker. Make sure that you throw a hand full of oyster shells on the floor of the loft once a week. Birds like to pick off of the ground…it is natural to them. Yes I can hear some say “NO” that will cause it to become contaminated with their dropping. However, contamination is not a bad thing sometimes. That is how they become immune to many diseases such as salmonella and e-coli…keeping in mind the loft need to be reasonably clean.

qpigeonman,what makes you think they have cold symptoms .?just curious .giving the wrong medication is just as bad ,

symptoms are breathing hard and mucus. My loft is clean I scrape once a week and the loft is dry no humidity in the loft it has been very hot lately 85%-90% or plus. the weather has been crazy around here don't know if that has something to do with it.
Hey PR I wish I was back in the island the weather is almost always the same.

yeah i wish you were back here too I have a roller buddy to fly with ..lol..where you from over here?----------oh,give your birds some ACV,for a couple of days see how they react.

Ralph I'm from el Grito that would be Lares. I was raised in Brooklyn NY, got married and moved to PR for about 6 years and then to Florida, but I miss the island there's no place like home if you know what I mean. I hope when I retire I'm able to go back.

you are treating for 5 diffrent cases.when you only need to treat for respetree, tip dont get 4 in 1 treat indevidily.

Jesus I went to Lares one time to go get my niece she was staying there with her husband at his grandfathers house its about 3 hours and a half from me.i too was born in NYC The Bronx ,you ever flew birds there.I have tons of stories about pigeon flying there.look up a title call "my story" I talk about growing up in the South Bronx.

yea I had some pigeons when I was young did not know much back then, guess I don't know much now but man stories I have a bunch of them, come on Ralph were talking about NY I can wright a book!
