jim enjoyed your article about the old timers.i/ve read almost every thing i can get my hands on about the old timers i find it fastenating.it always reminds me of my youth in middlesbrough with the birds.by the way m/bro is today what b/mgham was yesterday.it is & as been for a while the hot bed in england for rollers.a good friend of mine & top flyer george mason tells me he would love to live in mbro.because of the number of top flyers in the one area.i cant say our birds are better than the birds of the old masters because i didnt see there birds .but i can tell you that you wont find as many good birds any where in the world in one place as mbro.but at the moment because theres so many rollers we/re having big trouble with bop/s.did old timers have the same probs.id be intrested to know.any more imfo you have id be intrested.

JIm good reading your post bought me memories when i was a kid in NYC and in a 3 block ratio we had about ten kits flying all around us but these were tipplers and flights.and how we would catch other birds for feed money.we would let out 3 hundreds birds at the same time ,some had 500 hundreds.when i first started all i had was about 18 and with those 18 i would bring some of yours down.and I flew birds from an apartment window coop, wow memories memories memories, thanks again for your story.

hi Jim,

thank you! I love hearing about the origins of the sport and look forward to seeing the area for myself this June when I visit the Black country and attend a fly in Middlesbrough.

Could I have your permission to use the article from Ken White in our local bulletin?

Regards,

Ken Firl
