I just had a friend tell me to use Garlic in the birds water! Does anyone use that, and why?

Bert,
Garlic (active ingredient is allicin) acts as a mild antibiotic and an immune system stimulant. The problem is that it is unstable and may not actually exist in powders and gel caps after processing. It is better to crush the cloves in the water for maximum benefit.

Cliff

The use of Garlic helps tightens up droppings ,It invigorates, restore, refreshes and stimulates the pigeon .
All Garlic researhers add this caution. The greatest therapeutic benefits are derived when fresh or established as oil and water extracts.

how much do you use per gallon, and when is the best time to use it? After hatchings, before hatching....anytime...is there an amount of days to use then stop...any advice would be greatly appreciated. Never heard of using garlic but I rather use organic than meds if it works better. I would like to try.

thanks.

Something else no one has mentioned about garlic is the fact that it helps to keep parasites from making a home on or inside your birds, especially lice, mites or ticks. Not to mention the vampires!!!I give a clove crushed in the water once a month.

Now I see why you guys use this garlic for your birds. You don't even need to season them, just throw them on the grill!
My loft really smells like garlic, strong! I'm using just one clove crushed in a gallon and a half of water.

Bert
