I have changed feed several different times, I do not know what the healthiest is though. Anybody know? Right now I am feeding them 22% Pigeon Breeder Ration (Pellets)

Ingredients
Guaranteed analysis:
Crude Protein (Min.) 22.0%
Crude fat (Min.) 3.5%
Crude Fiber (Max.) 8.0 %
Calcium (Actual) 5.0%
*Sodium (Actual) 0.18%
Vitamin A (Min.) 18,500 IU/kg
Vitamin D3 (Min.) 4,500 IU/kg
Vitamin E (Min.) 100 IU/kg

It is not very cheap, so I hope I am getting my moneys worth at least. Anyone use this feed? I am giving them this year round and give them a little bit of Millet and dove feed as a treat every day from my hand (just a little bit)

I have used 28% pigeon pellets from Swanson Farms for the last 5 years and I LOVE THEM...never had a problem with them. Birds are fine...babies are healthy...and I have yet to lose a Breeder to any type of sickness....I do not feed just pellets...I cut them with a mix that has no popcorn...I use 2 parts mix to one part pellets and then stir it all up. Keep the poop nice and tight and they are getting all the vitamins.

I also feed my kit birds the pellets that are cut with Wheat and Milo......the birds fly fine on the pellets...the pellets have more vitamins...

Paul has it right, I was feeding all my birds stright pellets, but last year I tried his mix for the kitbirds. I was happy with their levels, of energy and in flying height there was a noticeable improvement. They stayed in the 200 to 300 ft range and that is where I like them. I still feed my breeders stright pellets and I have healthy fast growing squabs that make the adjustment to the slightly different feed when moved to the kitbox with no apparent difficulty.
I do cut back on the amount of oyster shell grit for the kitbirds, but my breeders have all they want.

The heathiest feed is the one your birds eat to their satisfaction a Know alot of old big time breeders who keep their birds on top with just 12% and 14% feed I try it but it doesnt work for me.edgar.

I recently started feeding a 17% no corn mix cut with wild bird seed. The wild bird seed has black sunflower which my birds eat and I believe is responsible for improvements in feather quality.

Paul, did you change? Last year, you mentioned that you use a 1/5 ration on your pellets! Thats what I went with and been using since!

Been using 2 parts milo, 2 parts wild bird feed, 1 part blk oil sunflower seed, 1 part wheat, and 1 and 1/2 parts 18% pellet for my breeders!

For my kits, they get 50% of that mix and 50% wheat for a maintience feed!

That may not be 1/5 on the pellets, but close enough!
