Try flying a few of the ones that are familiar with homing and also put some in a visible cage on top of a roof. If it is his/her first time flying, they aren't familiar or comfortable with the landing zone. If it's been flown before, it just might be scared but if he/she goes hungry, they will return if you have birds visible for them to see.
Hope this helps.

Only if Rollers had homing pigeons brain we wouldn't have to deal with so many lost rollers.

You are forcing them to fly too soon I think. When I use to buy birds and try to fly them I would stay with them for arouund 3 weeks before trying to fly them. 1 week out side on a cage on top of the roof. when I release them I would not try to scared them to fly but let them fly for them self. Or If I knew I didn't wanted to risk loosing them I would just plug there wings out. By the time they grow back they would of stay already.
Keep flying birds in till it comes back and put a bucket for them to take a bath outside. Ones he sees them he will come down and you grab him when he is taking the bath.

I forced some youngsters up the other day (9), when I realized how strong and hard they were flying, then I remebered that I had given extra feed the night before! They just got farther and farther, they were just young birds experiencing their first major flight! 6 came back in singles and doubles over the next 24 hrs, but 3 just disappeared!
Mismangement was my problem! Overfed and forcing them up to get a late evening fly! ---------- Val

Sucks to hear that.. Yeah I would try and leave some birds in the roof don't scare them up let them just hang out up there eventually they will go and fly on their own ---------- D.T.R.C

flo has got it correct. Put some birds out that are homed or in a cage where he can see them. If he is flying over he knows where home is just wants some company. He probably won't land till late in the evening,if he doesn't trap wait till it gets dark and nab him with a flash light. ---------- Ron Borderline lofts
