I have had Tim's family for 4yrs now primarily his 272 stuff which is some of the fastest stuff I have owned in 30 years, his Stewart family I believe he worked with in 97 through 99, I would have to call him to make sure. I lost a stock hen a couple months back with a personalized Tim Decker band on it/CPRC, dark check self she was a 99, if someone has strayed her in I would love to get her back. ---------- Dale SGVS http://builtforspeedrollerlofts.bravehost.com/

Dale, That is the problem with some guys that don't call on the band if they found a bird and try to breed them and keep them. Not knowing that if they give the bird back we will give them a pair off from it if is a breeder. Some ones bird might not work for some one else if they don't know what is behing that bird.
Some birds might bee too hot or too frequent and they don't know which bird to breed them with. And they will just waist a good bird away.
I have lost so many birds with personal name bands and the only ones I have got back are from persons that don't have Rollers. Some have call and want to know how does it do or what line are they and they don't want to give the bird back. ---------- SALAS LOFT

Salas loft,
What is your take about picking up birds that were lost? I have found that on some, no matter how many times you bring them back from a call back... they will be lost again in the next over fly. I have now changed my view of selection. I have added the non lost factor in my selection. Do you guys think that if we bred out of a Roller that got lost, that they will produce more of the same? I had made changes in my selection to include for such now.
You are right, the call backs we get now are from guys that don't raise Rollers. You are pretty much out of luck if it is strayed in by back yard Roller flier. Then again you get those call backs that are 40 miles away. After looking up the band number, you find out that the bird is one that you have written down as a problematic bird. Being a good fancier, you pick the bird up any ways and send a thank you post card. Rarely will you ever get a call back on a super star.
Thor
P.S. Knowing what I know above, I still double band all my birds. Go figure :)

Thor,
The ones that I have lost are usually young birds. I have not lost year old birds but 2. One was a bird that hit on the way coming down, got hurt preety bad. 2 weeks later when I open the door to feed them that bird took off like a rocket sky high never to see her again. The other one was in a windy day that I should of not flown them and I got a call 50 miles a way 3 days latter that they cought my bird. I told them to keep the bird as I didn't wanted it because he didn't knew how to come back home. I have got many calls by neighboords that they have cought one of my birds and they are injured by a bop.
