A mixed family can be flown together with great result in my opinion look at the cali. classic birds from all over the world and there were some great teams flown the better the tranier the better the team.

Many fly mix family in kits and have successful kits, but many also wonder why there birds fly high or low or are not as frequent .and it could be because of the family you have that are made that way,,so I fly mine separate first learn from them let them teach me .and then i see if this one fly at the same height as this family and how they work together as a team.,.then i start analyzing that team that i put together as who is working more ,who is rolling from the back causing the birds to lose altitude ,which birds are causing the birds to rise too high.. ect ect. the rest is all management...
good post...

Even in a well bred family... you will have the fast eaters vs the slow ones. Certain birds will all ways need that extra feed to keep up. I have seen some nice teams of mix families. My current team is also made up of two different families. I think some families need that extra help - like the fast flying or low flying or etc...

Mixed Kits All The Way! If there is something that your certain family doesn't do to well, add some from another family that can!

Andrew,

Say what? I have no clue what you just said. My goal in building a team is to have birds that perform the same - the faster the better, the deeper the better, the more stylish the better...

No point in adding a champion with a kit of culls.
