Hi all
Has any of the lads on here ever exported birds to England? if so what are the regulations and what are the costs

Why would you want to do that? Haven't you heard? The best birds in the world are in SA.
No sir. I have not, but maybe Tony can fill you in on exporting policies.

To tell you the truth, the cost would far outweigh the benefit. I know of guys getting them in other countries, and it is very expensive. Don't you like the gene pool in England? Surely there are top shelf breeders you can aquire for a fraction of the cost of importing them.

Hi Milo Yes there are some good birds here its getting hold of some,there is no local club near me so i am in the all England roller club I have just re-joined after a absence of 16 years there is no one I know in it from last time round,when I was in the AERC 86-92 the lads were really help full in getting new members started times have changed, I have only got 2 breeding pairs. and would like another bloodline.I shall see how it goes

I think that Wayne just had a few eggs shipped to him from over here. I think that 2 or 3 out of 6 successfully hatched! Might be something to consider! Timing would be tricky though! ---------- Val

I dont know about exporting birds but the last time I imported birds from England it ended up being about 150 per bird. They have to go through a quarantine either in NY or Miami at three dollars a day per bird and then be shipped to you. That is above and beyond the cost of the birds. That was also in the 1990's.
