If you (Moderated) kill raptors you will be caught eventually. It's a criminal act and more people care about hawks, owls and falcons than pidgeons. If you're going to have an interest in birds then show an interest in all birds instead of being so (moderated) selfish.
If someone takes up a hobby like this and doesn't expect raptors to have an affect then they have their head up their bum.
For those of you who are law-adibing, a few are ruining it for the rest of you.

Hey Wlutz, welcome to the site! A fresh point of view. But why the name calling? (which now has to moderated, yeesh) I recommend that you click over to the posting policy and get up to speed.
Wlutz, I feel pretty confident that you will find no one on this site who advocates harming bop. In fact, it's just the opposite. Through this site, we are trying to educate and create awareness of the MBTA and offer suggestions as to how to "live alongside" nature.
In the last year or so, the roller fancy has taken a hard look at itself and has stepped up to help one another comply with all laws regarding this issue.
Just like with ANY group of people, there ARE a few bad apples that create trouble for the majority. Just like some individuals in animal rights groups break the law by burning peoples car, trashing laboratories to make their point.
So one side shouldn't pretend to preach to the other, know what I mean? Stay Cool.

And don't worry I'm not sticking around; I could care less about pigeons. (But I think it's cool that it's related to birds)
Get past the anger read the post. Ignoring the subject won't make it go away because if you don't police your own nothing but "bad" will come from these idiots killing raptors.

First off, IT IS UNCOMMON for "you folks" to do what the person you are referring to said he did. In your anger you are accusing all of us of the same deed. You are painting us all with the same brush and stroke.
This very public discussion has been taking place now in the roller hobby for almost a year now. What, the audobon magazine just came out with a rehash of old news and suddenly its new to you? And you are angry?
I find it very hard to imagine anyone involved with rollers harming bop in this day and age. I bet kids throwing rocks at birds have violated the MBTA more often than any roller fancier ever has.
Keep things in perspective and seek first to understand then be understood. You'll get more from this approach. You will find that 99% of us are probably just like your friends, neighbors and family.
We are not evil blood-thirsty hoodlums or "roller rings". We are you!

I think an article just came out in the nation audoban society mag about the situation that was so grossly over exagerated, that happened overa year ago!
All these people have to do is bring this up every year or so and make it sound like it was yesterday, and there gonna keep attracting attention to this!
They know how to play this game better than us!

There's is an article in Backpacker magazine as well.May 2008 issue.A long interview with the udercover guy,Newcomer and the way the sting was conducted.More bad press.It's a shame some guys have messed it up for others alright.Expect more comments like this as this site is noted in the article.

I haven't actually seen either article, but was "warned" about the audobon article. There is actually a supposed roller-man who's name I won't mention who gleefully hopes the bop issue takes this site down...imagine that, sick!
You guys commenting on the foolishness of others posting here that do not raise rollers, must consider how you represent the fancy and make this site look to civilians.
You cannot legitimately criticize the few who have hurt all of us with their own actions and then proceed to berate and belittle those who would come on here and have their opinions justified by the way they were treated.
I want you to consider that if what you are doing now by jumping all over this guy and possibly others who might be allowed to post, is doing the fancy and each one of us a disservice?
Be respectful of others you disagree with, especially on this issue and have as much class as you can. Represent yourself well, the Roller Hobby depends on it.

Now I can see why most of you guys got so defensive about some of my posts. I didn't realize that their was such prejudice against roller people. Sorry again, if I ever offended anyone. I'll keep away from this subject. For now on it's just roller stuff for me!

Be assured,lots of folk read it.Hunters are one group for sure that would read it,and it was a fellow rollerman that passed it on to me last weekend.Just say no to guns and traps and any other methods boys.Anybody that doesn't is cheating in the comps far as I can see.JMO.

This guy is crazy. He should have NEVER enter this site and created a name for this site. This site is for pigeon fanciers or people who are interested in roller pigeon. This kind of post kind of threw me off Tony. I don't like the talk of this guy at all. It makes me want to throw-up. This site isn't anything about raptors. It's all about Birmingham Roller. I know those raptors are pigeon killers but we just have to stick with it and raise more birds. That's how the hobby work. Although you lose one or more birds, there are always more to come.
I don't think this guy is a pigeon fancier at all. He just want to look for trouble. It seems that he is taking this out on all of us here, and I don't like the sound of that at all.

Hey wash, when I approve someone to post, I never know what their motivation is to join and they intend to post. The general consensus of the board is that anyone should be allowed in and when they violate the posting policy, it is at my discretion what I want to do, from a warning to outright ban from site.
Guys, we have to face it, our biggest challenge is the public relations disaster the roller pigeon now faces. Anything we can try and do to turn that around we should try.
How much better would it have been if we could have engaged this fellow with common sense and won him over to our side, at least understand that the Roller Fancy has a rightful place in the world and is made up of 99.9% of good people.
Instead, we chased him off with his opinion validated...

I completely understand, Tony. I just don't get it when "people" want to come here and criticize innocent fanciers here. Here we are having fun and talking about your interest in rollers, and this guy comes here talking about not even bother coming here and that he doesn't even care about this hobby. I have to said....that it kinda hurt my feelings. LOL, not to be too emotional.

Hunters have family,freinds and aquaintances.Campers read that magazine too and even I who never buy magazines read it.Do you think I don't care that this is being said about our hobby.Well I'll tell you it offends me alot and it really -isses me off that I may have to defend myself against allegations or even the idea that I may be someone who harms BOP,solely because I'm a Roller-nut,and they have read one of these articles we've been discussing here on this thread.This guy klutz or whatever his name is has every right to state his opinion on this issue,tho swearing didn't help his point only made it sharper and more offensive to some people.I'm sure he is not the only non-pigeon guy to come onto or be watching this site.
JMO,but ain't likely to change it.
