How do you measure 400 feet? I have seen some really deep ones pull out at the last minute, and lived to do it again ---------- Dale SGVS http://builtforspeedrollerlofts.bravehost.com/

I read somewhere that a bird drops aprox 10 ft per second.Give or take a little for birds wich drop at different speed.Does that mean that a bird wich is said to roll 400 ft would have to have been in the spin for about 30 sec?Impossible, or this theory is way off!

I think your right luis, It would probably be more in the neiborhood of 5 ft. per second drop. I guess it depends on size and type of roll of the bird.

Four hundred feet and not splatter is my goal for my Fireballs. We have made a few that will roll really deep but finding a bird that roll four hundred from four fifty and thirty from fifty both is where the problem seems to come in. I guess you call it control.
Sippi
I also think that after a bird passes a certain depth the second rule is out the door. You have to consider the rate of acceleration times gravity.

I've had a few wing switchers over the years go even deeper than that. I believe last NBRC fly I DQ'd because of one. I was flying a very small kit, and that cost me. A lot of oooh's and ahhhh's, but it cost me the fly. Anything that rolls more than 40 feet loses a lot of quality and speed in my opinion. Sure it's cool, but not the best of rollers.
