What do you guys think in regards to helping hatchlings out of the egg ,when they obviously are not going to be able to do it on their own?
It is said, these are weak birds and will never match up to the ones who do hatch on their own.I have one i helped out of the egg and he looks very strong.I would even venture to say he is bigger and stronger than the others!

Luis, I have not had to help any pigeons hatch so far although i have had one that peeped and died in the shell. However there are many factors that play into this with my game birds,Humidity is the bigest problem,The egg not being turned properly, and then the parent bird not getting the correct amount of protein during the laying cycle.I do believe this would make for a weaker bird the majority of the time, in the case of the pigeon it is already behind the other squab and will realy have to fight to keep up with feeding.Nature is a funny thing.

I say no, hurts more then it helps. Only the strong survive in nature. Only the strong, in my loft.
