Hi Silvertail....
I hope the Falcon keeps on going about its business. These swift flying predators of the sky can and will travel up to 200-300 miles a day in search of prey.
I don't know if I have ever seen a Falcon around my birds, but I'm certain that a Cooper has been through here. I have not seen a large BOP in my backyard in quite a while and don't want to see one around here anytime soon either.
NOTE: I say large BOP because I'm referring to predators that are a serious threat particularly to my rolling pigeons. There is a pair of sparrow hawks (A.K.A the American Kestral) nesting in a large tree roughly 50 yards from my lofts.... however.... these pair of sparrow hawks don't seem to be of a real threat at the moment due to their small size and abundance of OTHER prey in my neck of the woods.
Diet In summer, Kestrels feed largely on grasshoppers, dragonflies, lizards, mice, and voles. They will also eat other small birds. Wintering birds feed primarily on rodents and birds. The birds characteristically hunt along roadsides from telephone wires, fence posts, trees or other convenient perches when not flying in search of food. When they are flying and looking for food they frequently hover with rapid wingbeats.
Because it feeds on both insects and vertebrates, the American Kestrel maintains fairly high population densities. It has a small breeding home range, from 1.75 to 2 square miles. Territory size has been estimated at 269 to 321 acres with much larger wintering home ranges.
{P.S.} Silvertail..., keeping your spirits up while trying to maintain a good flock of birds will DEFINITELY be your best angle going forward.
Talk to you later...

CV roller and Deepspin thanks for the kind words. Deep I do hope that this one does not stay it was not a good hunter so that always make's things worse my Uncle way back in the day use to say if you have to have one come trough grab and go don't mess the kit up some times it's better to see a good one go then have them chased all over the sky real hard to calm the team after a few chases like that.
