Ty tractor supply has a snake powder that works. I had a multitude of oak snakes every year till I started using it. The only thing is it dissipates after a rain and has to be refreshed. That wasnt a problem last year though. I had them coming at night and finally caught them by going to the lofts every hour on the hour. Got bit two or three times catching them too. Got tired of both and got some powder.

Sorry for your loss Ty!
I know you know this, but for those who aren't familiar with "Joe-No-Shoulders"
You gotta make sure the loft is snake proof, they can enter through surprisingly small openings, so make things fit tight. I find chicken snakes regularly that simply went through the small openings in the poultry wire, swallowed a chicken egg or two and then trying to escape can only get their head and a few inches back through the wire. Even when the snakes can't get in but they will still come snooping around.
I tried relocating the non-poisonous varieties a couple of years ago, the snakes evidently leave some sort of scent trail where ever they have been, that snake may not return but I'll bet money another will follow him. I had three big White Oak Snakes playing follow the leader coming down onto my loft roof from the tree overhead.
Make a rectangular cage 18' X 24" X 36" out of small diameter hardware cloth 1/4"x1/4", in one side place a funnel entrance like a minnow trap or like a quail recall trap but make sure funnel's entrance is at ground level but that it is above the ground level inside. Take 2, 1x4's 4to 6 feet long and make them into a large funnel with the wire cage in the V of the board funnel. A snake comes nosing along and will slither down the length of the boards right into the wire cage, the snake will continue to nose around the interior sides and can't figure out how to get out of the cage. Then you can relocate.
If you enlarge the cage and use 1x10's you can capture troublesome Armadillos. They will nose their way right down the boards and into the cage. They aren't so smart enough to figure out how to escape the funnel either but the wire better be strong a big Armadillo can tear up light hardware cloth.

Ther are a few holes in the side of the loft in the expanded metal but i didnt think they would be a ble to get through them they are small holes no larger than 1 1-2 inches and about 4 foot high maybee he came through it ? Im going to run electric fence about a inch high around the loft and trim the tree limbs above the loft. A friend of mine i used to fox hunt with had a rattlesnake go into his dog yard and killed 5 beagles he put a electric fence up and never had another problem so im going to try it.Last year i lost alot of chicken eggs and bitties to snakes and a few king and modena squabs until i finaly caught the snakes and i used snake away all year. I even caught one in the shed laying on top of the snake away bag. ---------- Ty Vapor Trail Lofts

TY, Take a look around your lofts and see what you can do to make it less snake friendly. Cut back brush, clean up wood piles etc.. Ensure you don't have a rodent problem. You don't want the snakes looking for rodents and taking your birds as a bonus.
