What city do you live in this site sales birds. I would find a local builder and give him a picture of what you want to have built and go from there.

What you need to do is do a little research,.
Find a feed store in your city (phone book or internet) the reason I say feed store is 9 out 10 true pigeon hobbits will buy their feed at one no matter how far it is from the loft.
Take some time and visit some of these local Pigeon guy/gals
See what type of loft/cages that are available.

If you are handy with a hammer go for it your self.
for starters you only need 4foot x 4foot x 4foot box with a wire floor, built on legs nothing too Fancy.. You learn and make changes... this hobby is a processes of change.
I wish you luck.. Keep us posted on what you decide to do..

Can you afford it..the answer to that depend and it depends on you ..you know what you have as far as any income coming in. the price of pigeon feed has gone up.everything has gone up really. as far as a kitbox to shelter the birds.you might have scraps of wood hanging around you might be handy you can build your self one by looking at pictures we have here of ours. .can you afford to buy nails paint only you can answer that. vitamins ,meds, when needed.. good birds to start with . what I'm trying to say is its a a good hobby ,sport what ever you want to call it at a low cost .pigeon eat a table spoon each.so with a few birds you can feed for a long time on a bag of grain. are you serious about this do you really want this .you have to ask yourself not no one else, then with that answer you would know can i do it,do i want it . dig deep down ,and be honest with yourself and when you want something bad enough you will do it and get it no matter what.the Honest way that is.. and once you do you will have questions how to go about your Hobby and thats when you will have everyone support here in this great site.WARNING once you get bit you will never want to leave it.the love for the true Birmingham roller..
----------good luck..and welcome...

My feelings is this: If I have to ask the price, I can't afford it. Plan and simple. Like the old saying: You get what you pay for....

I started out with a budget in mind????????? that didn't last long for almost as soon as I finished one box, that had everything I thought I needed, I'd think of something else I needed to issue a change order for but it was too late in the build to do,or I'd see someone else's box that's better'n mine so I needed to build another.

Six months into my new hobby, I knew I needed to hide receipts and make sure deliveries came to the office so that redheaded woman I'm married to wouldn't find out! LOL She doesn't have a clue as to how much she has spent/is spending or what she actually bought for my birthday, anniversary and Christmas present/presents for from now til judgement day!!!!! LOL!!!!

If y'all hear that I died in my sleep, make sure an autopsy is done, and don't let the insurance company write the check til you are sure that there are no icepick holes thru the ear or dents that suspiciously look like a ball-peen hammer hit me in back of the head!

She thinks that the 3 pair of Rubys I bought, for her to give me for Christmas are being visited by pigeons in our neighborhood! She thinks it's a pigeon thing. If she see's a bunch of pigeons anywhere in town, she will ask if any of them are mine.
Now y'all know reciprocative visits are just good manners.

I thank the good Lord that Love is blind and "K" doesn't look out behind the barn!

My favorite scripture is, Hezzukiah 2:7, "A Lie is the abomination to the Lord, But!, a very present help in time of trouble!"

You can spend as much or as little as you want. The amount you spend won't guarantee how successful you are. Start small learn how to care for the birds properly, decide the type of performance you are looking for and decide wether or not you intend to compete in the future. :)
