I tried the search button but i wasn't very successful so here is my question.
Considering it is a 05-06 hen (fairly young) and with 3 fosters to back her up, how many round can a hen lay eggs per year? What are the risks even if they are properly prep with oyster shells and provital?

As many as you can foster out! It helps to keep the hen in a large spaced area to produce the most eggs out of her. Breeding a full team from her in a year would be a breeze.
Just me here but I think it is less stressful for a hen to just lay then for her to raise youngsters.

I usually only take 12 eggs from a hen for fostering. She will lay ever 9 or 10 days.I then give her a 2 month break and do it again. This is when I switch cocks if I want to.I always let her raise the last round for the season. I also agree that it is less stressful to just lay eggs. But don't be surprised if a hen you pump is done laying eggs when she is only 3 years old. David

That is right about running out of eggs from what I've read here before anyhow.A hen is born with the ability to produce only so many eggs in her lifetime. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts

I run 6 eggs a round 2-3 rounds a season. They get a break during the 18 days the hen is sitting on eggs. I use this time to feed em up and get em all kinds of healthy before the eggs hatch. I usually get a clear egg or two at the first of the season. I have had three clear eggs so far this season and one chick die in the nest, all my squeaks are still here. Good stuff so far. ---------- V99
