Very interesting indeed. Thank you for sharing. I question the use of the term "Caught Bird." I think it means it was a stray he trapped in. If that was the case, we may have a bird of questionable background that could bring in all sorts of unknown factors. Hmmmm
Didn't I raise this idea before? Yes! I think I did. Let's pretend it never happened. Moving on!
Rose wing is an interesting term also.......I wonder what that means?

Cliff, "Rose Wing" referes to Rec Red Mottle, many have heavy white on the wing butts once mature.
The old timers weren't hip on the genetic terms that we use today.

Yes, I think I also mentioned the fact that the early flyers of rollers had very little knowledge of the color/factor genetics found in these birds. We agree on that point. There is absolutly no telling what all was in these birds that were shipped to the US.

I believe it was Coyote that said something about "back in the day". Yeah, ol' Ellis is getting up there in years but he can run like a spring chicken when threatened with a super wedgie! LOL! You should have seen him at the NBRC convention here in Carolina last fall. In the contest to identify all the genetic factors and modifiers in the rollers on display, he was studying every bird like a college kid before final exams LOL! Of course he won it.....

I was doing more fun and important things, like spelling my name in yellow on the side of your barn LOL
