Went to the feed store earlier and I was going to get some REd Grit. Paid for it and was later told they were out. the owner recommended the "Super Grit" in exchange so I accepted. I t consists of "rock like pebbles" and oyster shells and garlic. Just wondering if anyone uses this grit or is it bad? Also, I picked up a bottle of red cell and was wondering if it would be safe to use it with the grits?

Any info's or recommendations would be much appreciated.

First and formost...I would NEVER buy any products first, before reading up on their prescribed usage.. Do your homework first. It may SAVE you alot of time and $$money$$ in the long run. Alittle friendly advise.

I don't know about the supper grit because I've never heard of it before. However, I can tell you to be carefull with the Red Cell in hot days because you could overdose your birds so easily. If you were careful and don't, then watch out for them becoming too strong on you.

Well, we know that grit and oyster shell are a necessity and many claim that garlic is beneficial, and all three of those ingrediants sound "all natural" so I would probably be comfortable trying it! Double ck the ingrediants to make sure there isn't something funky in there and give it a try!

Give us an update after you try it awhile! Might be something that would be good to mix with red grit! Call it "super grit 2000" or something! LOL

I only use red cell in the breeders loft and I only use it once in awhile. Maybe once every 3 weeks or so! I only use about 1/2 a capfull to a gal of water! Wash it out after 2 days!

I use other supplements also, such as powdered vits/electrolites, pro-biotics, and ACV!

flo,
I didn't know what to use and the stuff that my feed store has is like boulders I didn't think my birds would be able to even eat it so I went and sent away for some stuff that I used with my canaries. It is supper stuff I'll tell you and the birds love it.

I have the nutri source chick grit. Birds like it and its small enough they dont pick thru it. I was wondering why they eat it so readily. It also has anise oil in it and it tastes good to em. I also use the Danish pickstone that Tony has. The birds go absolutely bonkers over it.
