Man sorry to hear that Nick.

Foster the eggs the cock should take care of the squeekers if they are not old enough. Hopefully you'll get her back.

Tim would be best to ask if the daughter father pairing will work for you. Give him a call.

if you breed from her kids it will keep the blood in your loft you will have to focus on those birds to create a family around them. Go see smoke or efren to help you with a breeding plan but it will take time to fly an prove there worthy to go in the loft for breeding.

Silver is right Nick, but if the father was a good one then what you will be doing is a 3/4 of the father. A good amount of the time they usually work out. Again Tim knows best on the birds.

Thanks Electric Man. I know how it feels to lose a good bird or two. Its sucks, and even if you have an loft band on it they never call. I have strayed in bird from people whos names don't have to be mentioned and returned them. but there are some poeole who just think about there own personal gain without considering the other parties lost. I've lost breeders and many kit birds with loft bands on and the finder refuses to return them. Watts I really hope you get your bird back.

Hey Nick.
Sorry to hear about you losing a good bird. Maybe you could build a second door so that if the bird gets out of the breeding pen it will still have another door between it and freedom. A double door arrangement is a good idea.

I'm sorry about your lost birds. I'll keep an eye out on 911 Pigeon Alert and let you know if they get reported as found.

Backyard67 .. just a question for you .. what's on your "loft" band? We (911 Pigeon Alert) have the hardest time locating the owners of Rollers even with "loft" bands .. the phone #'s are usually no good as in disconnected or the people who answer the phone claim they don't have pigeons. I can assure you that lots of finders of lost rollers and other pigeons do go to great trouble to try and locate the owner and get the bird back home. It just ain't quite as slick as you might think to accomplish this.

Look at some of my old posts here .. I don't post often, and it's usually about a found roller. You might be
rather surprised at the lack of help with information or even replies to assist in getting the bird back home. It ain't just the finders who are at fault .. it's the pigeon fanciers too. JMO ..

Tawhatly, sometimes the owners of the birds are skeptical because of the resent attacks on the hobby by DWS AND DFG.

Well, Keith/Smoke,

I am not an informant for any of the regulatory agencies .. I just rescue and rehab pigeons and other birds. I AM NOT AN ENEMY here!

You Roller fanciers have always closed the ranks and made it almost impossible to trace an owner and get a bird back home. Unless the bird wears an NBRC band, we're screwed on getting the bird back home .. even then .. still mostly screwed because the NBRC is in such disarray these days that you can't expect to get bands traced in any reasonable amount of time.

This is a ridiculous situation .. you guys say you want your birds back .. yet .. there is no way to find the owner of a Roller anymore.

I ask here .. I get few or no responses.

It's a sad state of affairs.

I'll post a bunch of pictures and band #'s for the unclaimed rollers I have when I can get some time .. you'll be surprised.

TAWhatley, The service you do for us is greatly appreciated. I don't think it was Keith's intentions to question your actions or make you feel that you are not welcome. With the recent events concerning the FEDS, many roller fanciers have taken the approach that they are better off not talking pigeons with someone they don't know. The problem with the NBRC is that they are a much smaller organization than say the AU and yes, alot less organized. Pls. keep up the good service.

Your an "angel" for the hobby, Terry! Thank you for your services!

After some recent events though, we do have to be on our toes with strangers! Sad isn't it?

Kieth is as good as they come here! I know he meant no disrespect to you, just taken out of context is all! I think he would step up to the plate as fast as anyone here, if he knew he could help you! JMO

Once again,

THANK YOU!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I was obviously letting my frustration and tiredness show through last night. I truly only want what is best for these birds and sometimes let my strong feelings for the birds make me a bit unkind to the humans. Sorry!

Terry

PS: Posted what I'm pretty sure is a roller that was found in LA today .. sure hope somebody will help me out with getting this one back home.
