I need to pull a cock out of my A kit to replace the one i lost during the tornado we had,I had already made up my mind to pull him after the fall fly but now i need to pull him early so that is not my issue, he is brood quality but it is going to realy hurt my kit loosing him. Do any of you think i would bee able to return him to the kit before the fall fly after using him as a breeder without loosing performance?

Ty, I do it all of the time , some after a year or two, if they don't fall back in line in every way shape or form they don't belong in stock any way.

Just my Opinion

Ty.I do it quite often. What I have seen is that Hens will go right back into the kit with no problems but Cocks seem to take a lot longer to get their mind off the breeding thing.I have found that usually it takes 2 weeks to get the birds back in flying shape and at their normal rolling ability.
I have started to cut the weight off for a week before putting them in the kit box.David
