----------Im always looking for new ways to keep our hobbie on the cutting edge.. I know the Racing homer guys are doing it on a regular... The use of G.P.S(global position system) to track their birds. This would be a great tool for us and our hobbie, I use this system for my job, but imagine getting altitude duration of flight and patterns from the info gatherd on a kit flight. I think this would be a ascet to our programs. In addition it would help in the event of a over fly, and theft.. just go right to the theive's loft.. no hidding them with the G.P.S..what do u folks think..just another tool in the coop... Square...great idea. Although the people of today is so smart that there is always someone finding a way to beat the odds. How and where will we put the tracker on our birds? If it is on a leg band, it can be chipped off unless the band is made of some super metal that it will need to take some high powere laser to chop off. then that thief is risking a loss foot on the roller he/she stole. Anything that is good comes in a pricey number. then we can use a chip ;like the chip that people use to put on their pets inside their skins, but it has to be GPS trackable. I'm sure it will comes at a hefty price if we want all of the good stuff on that chip system. But there is more research needed if, will that electronic piece affect the performance of our birds.
A good idea, none the less...but we have to be 2 steps ahead of the theif...but willing to spend the doe. ---------- FLO www.blacked-out-loft.webs.com SAKTOWN, KALI4NIA

yEA i THOUGHT OF THE SAME THING,, AND HOPEFULLY WITHEN THE YEARS THE PRICE WOULD BE REASONABLE.. THE THEFT THING IS JUST ICEING ON THE CAKE.. ALTHOUGH THE OTHER INFO YOU COULD GATHER WOULD BE WORTH IT, JUST A THOUGHT. AND MY THINKING IT WOULD BE LIKE A REGULAR BAND, AND IF YOU RELIZED THE THEFT WITHEN REASON YOU WOULD ALREADY HAVE A LINE ON THE PERPERTRATOR....LOL ONE STEP AHEAD.. THANX FOR YOUR INPUT, JUST WANT THE THEIEVES TO KNOW IM CONSTANTLY THINKING..

Remeber we are talking about thieves here . Not the smartest group of criminals. The ETB,electronic band, I think it is called, works in conjunction with a timeclock. When the band passes within a certain proximity, like six inches or less, it logs the time. I think.... Now if this GPS works it would have to be utilised fairly quickly to avoid the removal of the bands. Probably doable, wouldnt really see the need to do all of them just the main ones that the theives like to take. It could be a spendy investment cuz they dont just give those bands away. It would be worth every penny if it leads where we hope it would. ---------- V99

there GPS band should have at least a sensor bands like a car alarm...The alarm will be inside your house...Like a off/on switch...when flying u turn it off if overfly or etc turn it on and check the GPS, during night turn it on...Once the birds is out of the loft at night, or the sensor bands is cut off the alarm will siren letting you know that something is wrong...Something like this will costs $$$...
I used to work for a place that there will be a alarm somewhere around the door and once it trigger the door and open without a code within a few minutes the cop will be there and it really works...I tested it and got fire for it...But $$$..
