If you want a good high class roller you need to breed them from high class rollers. If you want high class Homers you need to breed from high class Homers. If you cross them two you will get 1/2 of the performace of both or not even close, you will not be able to race and win or kit competition and win. So I really don't know why people do it if is not going to help them in any way.

Sorry but that is taking a huge step backwards towards what you are trying to achieve a performing roller. It is a big no-no. Some people just learn it the hard way. If you want a tippler, just buy a tippler, no need to waist time crossing different breeds to get a certain breed. Also, you will find it sooner that there will be many unhappy people coming your way with this post in this forum. good luck on your theory and goal. stay focus on rollers itself and trying to enhance your knowledge based on rollers and not of mixing breeds. I'm not trying to put you down...but this may not be the site for you to find the answer that you would like if that is the route you are choosing-mixing breeds. good luck.

Back in the olden days when breeding in an open loft I had some Romers and hollers they don't do anything. They get lost and don't roll. So why do it???

Too small for squab. Stick with the utility birds for the table...

A guy here used to fly both and breed in an open loft. He said the only good thing about the cross was that they could NOT find there way home if you took them a half mile away. lol
