How old is older.LOL. If they have been flown elseware then I would hold them in for at least 2-3 weeks. Pull about 4-5 flights from one wing and as they grow in they will learn their surroundings and are more apt to stick around. Good luck, sometimes it is dufficult to home birds that have already flow at somebody elses loft. Might try taping a wing. Im going to home all of my breeders in the off season just to make sure i have no more losses like when the tornado hit my loft. I will be taping wings. ---------- Ty Vapor Trail Lofts

I would give them a bit more and make sure they know how to use that trap door and maybe train them with a whistle to come down on your call or something.. :) ---------- Andrew

I would let them settle in .Let them find their place in the loft. That could take 2 to 3 weeks.Maybe let one out with your other birds and see what happens.I've had birds come back the next day that I thought I lost. Brian

DON'T be impatient. You should give them at least a 2-3 week settling time frame. Then do as prescribed by the other guys. ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul

I'll tell you what jnyce, If you plan to use the birds for breeding I wouldn't let them out at all. I didn't know about all the tricks that everyone mentions here but I had my birds in a flight cage outside all the time, any time they wanted they could go out. I had them for 4 months let 3 or them go and they all went in different directions and never seen them again. Luckily these were extra males I had anyway and all they were doing was fighting. Maybe that was why they took off, to find mates or their old homes. None of them had ever been in the air before. Good luck.
