I found a roller in 1992 with 2 bands on her. One of them was a ICRC band from 1991 & the other was a band that said "S.F. Smith Loft", "Silkgrass Rollers". I tried for years to find out about ICRC but the people I asked didn't have any knowledge of the club. She passed in May of 2005.

I came across this site and thought someone might have some information about this loft.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Diana

ladydi ICRC stands for inner city roller club. I am a member of ICRC and may be able to find out the exact breeder of the bird but don't beleive that pesron is still a member.

Thanks for whatever you can find out for me. We called her "Homey" because my husband thought she was a homing pigeon. So you can see we didn't know much. I have some of her offspring still but never did learn to fly them.

I would love to fly my birds, but a family of hawks live in a large tree in my neighbors yard. I can always tell when they are in my yard, all my birds are in the back of the cages.

My neighbors also have 2 schnauzers and one of my yellow hens got out and landed in their yard. She didn't know what hit her, it broke my heart to see them eat her.

Whats up Efren Sam I don't think was a member that far back and I just got off the phone with Steve Smith and he said it's not him. Ladydi I have talked to two of the original members and they both have no clue who it might be but if you have the band number that may help them figure out who hade that series of bands.

Well guys, now you see why I had her for 13 years. If you are having this much trouble locating someone, who spent the time and money to have special metal bands stamped with his loft name and silkgrass rollers, and you are active in the club, then I didn't have a chance of finding her owner.

I don't know if you are familiar with Norwalk, but we caught her in front of the "Bionic Burrito" which is no longer there. It was in the little center @ Norwalk Blvd. & Imperial Hwy. I believe it was in 1992 that we found her.
Her band # was ICRC 91 359. She was red with white tail & flights & throat. My husband called her Homey. She was the only one I cried for when she died.

I would have loved to know something about her and where she came from. We felt that she must have been special to someone for them to double band her. All I know is that she was special to us.

Thanks guys for all your help.

Ladydi most of the guys are from that area the only problem is most of use weren't members back then but before the weekend is over we would have found the breeder we beleive the origional owner was a gentalmen name Sam he still has birds but doesn't belong to a club or fly right now. Once I get his number I will get back to you as a matter of fact I have something else I need to talk to him about so I will be getting a hold of him. Yours Truely Silver tail

Thanks guys. I wish this chat stuff had been around back then. The only person I new that flew her birds was Carol from Superfeed Store in Norwalk, CA. She told me the band was probably Inner City Roller Club. But she knew nothing about Silkgrass Rollers. I don't even know what club she flew with. I guess I really didn't understand what a roller was until several years later.

Thanks again for all your help. I'll keep checking back. You guys have a good and safe memorial day week-end!!

Later,
Diana
