I have a cock that is extremely agressive towards his mate! He is not that much of a problem in the loft towards other birds, but he drives his hen constantly! He is young, and only one of two cocks that I own from my Higgins family! Hate to get rid of him till I give him a fair chance! The hen is a good sport and sticks with him, but I feel sorry for her!
Surely, he will mellow when he matures some more, won't he? Hes a good looking bird! Val
Maybe if you put him by him self for a few days I hade the same problem and it worked dont know if it will work for you but try it. P.s or you could let me have it LOL!

No Val, DO NOT GET RID OF HIM, the male will sometimes do this to show DOMINANCE towards the hen, it is just kind of a part of mating.. Good luck with him! ---------- Andrew
What I do is just lock him in the nest box for a few minutes during feeding time so she can eat and drink in peace, then let him back out to do what comes natural til' he matures thru a few rounds. Notice she is stimulated by and joins in the run and chase. He will mellow once he gets the hang of it! He'll be a good parent. Otis
Its very noticeable that the hen has lost weight from being chased so much! I pulled him out last night during feeding time, guess I will do this every couple of days to make sure shes getting plenty! ---------- Val
Horny? That sucker just doesn't trust his competition! I've found it to be an hereditary characteristic. If you don't like it in your cocks - say goodbye. Val, I think it gets on your nerves more than it does the hen, it surely gets on mine! LOL! Otis
Val, I had a cock run a really good hen of mine til she dropped on me and he alsmost met his maker. I put him in the holding cage for the entire season and the next season he was an entirely different bird. This cock ended up being one of the best producers I ever owned. The difference is I knew what he did in the air and I also knew that his father was the backbone of my stock loft. The choice is yours to make but dont allow him to ruin a good hen. How does he treat the hen when they are on eggs? I had a cock that would jump off eggs and chase his hen everytime she left the nest box. The hen came up scalped one day and the cock turned into a Parlor Roller!
He did fine the first go-round! The hen just laid the first egg of the second round today! He spent most of the day chasing another hen! I'm gonna try hobbeling him in the morning! I can solve that problem! ---------- Val
