My friend Jay Moreno he compete maybe twice in around 97-98 then he had to mouve so he gave them to his uncle then I got two from the uncle. This was the original Smith bird he use and a son from the originals Bob Scott birds. I still have them.
His birds where mostly from Bob Scott-Tom Hatcher-Leroy Smith.
This birds were in the 30-80 feet depth and not that frequent. When they drop you know they drop as you can see the depth in them and was a clean break. I have not seen that many kits any more like that.
Mostly every one is concentrating in more breaks and short depth.
I'm sorry but I like those birds better than the ones we have now.

Then use them birds in the breeder loft to put depth into your flock if your flock have the frequency.

That is exactly what I'm doing right now. I just got the two birds I have always wanted took me 2 years to get them. One is a 93 and the other one is a 99.I have got some real nice ones out of them. But the thing is that I need more and they do take a lot more to come in to the roll. Slowly but getting there.
I got a daughter from the Scott bird bred to a Guil Ran hen and breeding her to the Smith bird. Then I will get back the best one and put her back to the Scott bird and back and fort to the Smith. ---------- SALAS LOFT

It looks like with their age you are short on time. You got to get going faster than you think.

quickspin, start using fosters and get those breeders pumping out eggs before they go infertile on you.

Why, can't deeper birds break together ? I find that they can as long as they aren't controled by the roll, once they hit a particular depth it seems to be from stability issues and quality dumps. I will always breed for depth and quality over activity, the "good" deep ones just don't come easy in numbers. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

I know what you mean Salas. it seams that alot of the kits now are so frequent that they hardly even kit,or you constantly see birds dropping between breaks . I remember at Bob Scotts loft ,his birds where not frequent but when they rolled they all rolled, you hardly ever saw a bird drop between breaks.Hector Coya-SGVS

Hector, so true, those are birds not controlled by the roll, the best kits have birds that roll only on the breaks. Frequecy is only good to a point, then the wheels fall off. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott
