What's up Gabe this is what I discoved with the 4-1 with my youngsters what the 4-1 did was it basicly kills the immune system because there young so don't give them none of that 4-1 cause it will kill them in a couple of day's....I gave them the opposite of 4-1 witch is Probotic....And what that did was it actually work good cause it doesnt kill the immune system it give's them strangth I found this out not to long ago.....

155, I think maybe you had something else going on maybe. I just treated the whole flock including the breeders which were either on eggs or feeding young from a few days old to three weeks old and had absoulutely no problems at all. I did follow up with pro-biotics.I found with my young birds going light it usually involves e-coli or samonellis (sp?). I have real good luck treating them individually with Appertex tables. ---------- Ron Borderline lofts

In my experience, the 4in1 is absolutely safe on young birds still being fed by the parents. 155 probably had something else going on or did not treat soon enough for the 4in1 to make a difference in his case. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Kit birds from time to time loose weight in the kit box. Just feed him for a few days more than his share to gain his weight back. That is normal and that is why we handle our kit birds from time to time.

Hey gabe, if you should use it on your kit birds depends on why you think the first bird was losing weight. Sometimes kit birds will eat slower than the others and lose weight because of it.
If this is the case, do as Jay suggested. If you feel it is due to disease, than a flock treatment may be in order.
However, if they are NOT losing weight, hold off a couple days, watch the birds. If all is okay, don't give it to them. But if another one starts losing, I would treat the kit and follow up with a probiotic. Good luck. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria
