i was thinging of putting a pair of homers in my loft due to there excellent homing skills with the hopes of never losing a nother bird what do u guys think jerry t

Jerry, I personally wouldn't do it! The homers fly to fast and the rollers will try to keep up with them! Bad habit! They will likely become more like the racers and loose the roll! Just what happened to me when I tried it a few years ago!

homers are fun but they eat alot more than rollers and get sick alot easier

dont want to lose the roll so i dont think im gonna do it but it would hve been nice to hve that sercurity blanket knowing that they will bring the other birds home ---------- jerry t

If the birds got to high or started drifting to far on a windy day, or even if a BOP scatters them, I wouldn't hesitate to send them up to bring them home, I just wouldn't do it on a regular basis!
I use older kit birds that have been around awhile to bring them in now!Once you have a couple older birds that have been chased away for a couple of hrs and they find their way home, they come in handy to have around!
Learning when to fly is big factor also!
Maybe, I should say when "not" to fly!

In my experience flying homers will make your birds fly straight and not roll. You could use them as fosters or feeders,and fly them on thier own.I would not fly them with your rollers. Brian
