Yes I used to do that back in the 70's. A teaspoon of bleach per one gallon of water. It's a home remedy to help keep your birds from worms and perisites. It works well. ---------- Roll it

That kind of home remedy is extremely old fashioned and IMO not that smart.Try putting a tblspoon of bleach in a gallon of water and drink it,let us know if you enjoy it.Like drinking out of a swimming ool.ONCE I put some im birds bathwater and they wouldn't go near it. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts

Bleach in itself is a toxin "poison". Use it to clean the water founts and jugs but rinse real good. It kills the good bacteria in the gut. Use probios or plain yogurt to boost the gut bacteria imune system. In hot weather use 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a gallon of drinking water to keep the acidity level up where harmfull bacteria can't live. Don't do it in excess as sour crop will appear. Bleach will nutralize pigeon milk in breeders and the young will die. Steve

Guys, Chlorine bleach is deadly, a tiny bit goes a long way. The Red Cross recommends no more than 8 drops per gallon of water to purify drinking water and let it sit at least an hour to allow the chlorine to dissipate. Apple Cider Vinegar will do just as good and is much safer. ---------- "Semper Fi" SD

I have used clorine in my water in the past but I can't say that it did anything for the birds, it does keep the green alge from growing in the waterer, I have good mountian spring water that probably is better for them, now if I see a green scum starting to grow I set the waterers out with a clorox water mix for a hour, wash rinse and put back with fresh spring water. they say if you keep your waterers clean you don't get much sickness, I haven't had any sickness in a while. Chlorine and then ACV is counter productive. The Chlorine wipes out what the ACV helps. Me and my birds niether one like chlorine. If you want something that will kill the algae and is on the other end of the spectrum use acidified copper sulfate. Just a little dab will do ya.

Bleach is good for cleaning feed tray or water drinkers. Applecider Vineger with a eye dropper, with bird head healed back with beck spread wide opean drop Applecider down birds throat hold beck for a secound or two.do this two or three days in a row. This should kill infection. Most of the time when some hens won't breed this will help. The dropper works faster with Applecider Vineger eye drop method. My uncle has been breeding kings/madenas for years so i like getting health tips for birds from him he's old skool.
ps one full drop full strength should do the trick..
