I read in another post that Kel puts garlic in his birds water for bug control.Does anyone else supplement their bird's food or water? I use pro-biotics in the water.I put a mix of wheat germ ,cod liver,sunflower and garlic oil on the feed then sprinkle on brewers yeast twice a week.I also give them spinach with a little salt sprinkled on it.I always have a mineral pick pot in with them as well as their grit. I use garlic in the water ,ACV, probiotic, and plain water every week back and forth some days this some days that..

Beleive it or not I do nothing and I have very healthy flock. In the past when I started with rollers I used add AVC and on occassions add vitemins to their water. What was happening is making the birds too strong to be able to manage them even though you cut the feed to bare bones but it seems like the birds fly on fumes.
However, if you keep your loft clean (not spic and span) but clean and medicate for prevention once a year before breeding will eliminate all sickness. That is my experinace with my flock and the way I manage things with my birds. I do use grit on a daily basis for breeders to supplement their minirals need.

Sorry,I forgot to put that is for my breeders.The birds I fly only get the pro-biotics in their water.I can tell the difference in the birds after a while on the oil and yeast,they really shine,it almost looks like you buffed them out with car wax.The squeaks are strong and healthy also. Nick

A supplement is just that, a supplement. Our little birds are athletes and if it gives them an added edge in staying healthy and vigorous, why not?
So often in sports, the difference between first and second can be milli-seconds, in competition rollers in can be just a turn or two.

I use ACV for both the breeders and kit birds, and Provital for the breeders.
