I had a young squab with both legs straddled. One of them stuck straight out to the side. Just 2 days ago I put a baggie with dirt inside in the nest alongside it, and today when I checked it appeared to have been fixed. The baby was starting to stand up when I took the picture. Paul G

Thats why I use pine straw in my nests and lots of it. They wont ever spraddle with it. I have to add some for some of the lazy cocks. But I will file that one away just in case. Never thought of that before.

Yeah Kel, I haven't had such success with tying the legs together. Plus they can't move normally, then you have to untie the legs. This was really simple. Thanks, Paul

I have tried the bread wrapper wire before and it didn't work real well. Mel Stalzer taught me a new trick this year, and it works.
Get the plastic snap on bands and put one on each leg. The squab needs to be starting to feather, about like ther picture that Paul posted from an age perspective so it is large enough for the snap on bands to stay on the legs. Then get another snap on band and use it to attach the two snap on bands together. One band on each leg, and one connecting the two together. Kind of like making chaln links if you will. Try it... worked for me.
Like many have said, it is all a result of not having enough nesting material in the nest to start with... if you do, this will not happen. ---------- Joe Dan Parson Full Turn Lofts North Texas

Like the saying goes... There's more than one way to skin a cat. Glad to see all the suggestions. Here is the bird today. That leg was originally sticking straight out...useless...
