I can handle the excessive feed prices as well as the excessive fuel costs. But what I can't handle is feed thats not even fit as worm foder. Last week I paid $17.40 for a sack of wheat only to find it ate up literally by thousands of weevils. Then went to a local feed store paid $14.25 for another sack of wheat yesterday and once opened you could tell the wheat had been left out in the field to long. It was last years wheat it was rained on stims, stocks, and weevils in this batch also but when I scooped out a bucket it also had 1 inch long worms throughout the batch of wheat. All this from San Antonio, Texas. I cannot buy mixed feed without the same result and the feed usually has whole corn which my birds cannoot eat. I guess I'm going to have to start feeding straight pellets which I hate because the poop sinks so bad!!!! Any suggestions or locations in the S.A., Texas area to buy feed weevil free?

Turkey Buzzard,

I am from SA as well, I have been using Moore's Feed Store ever since I have had birds going back to 1973. I recently bought 2 bags of 12% Vitapep, it's OK. Next time I am going back to Charley Boy as it is much cleaner and has alot more different seeds in the mix.

Vitapep was OK I only saw 1 weavil, no worms????

Good luck,
Richard

Hey guys,
Bring your truck and come north. I gave 11 bux a sack Saturday from the co-op. Been using them since I started. Never seen a weevil.

I went to another place once that had some nice clean wheat and it had weevils. Been dealing with the co-op ever since.

I got wheat the other day it was down to $16.50 from $18.00, The milo is sometimes very nice and the next month it can look like crap, smaller than usual and filled with dust and sticks, I ask myself if I shouldn't take it back, the people are nice at the feed store, so I just hope for better feed next time. I got some shitty Milo once from a new feed store here on the island. It was all cracked and full of dirt so I took it back. They gave me my money back but complained every step.I don't shop there for feed anymore.Sometimes you have to pay more for quality.
