So wierd you would ask that..LOL I was just taklking to a Bro of mine about that..I personally like the small type rollers and I have quite a few of them, and I always thought they would produce their type always,,, but that is not the case..I have been recently producing some awsom birds in the air,, its just they look diffrent... kinda hard to discribe without a pic, but the head is kinda flat..at the top.. it's so wierd that when I see it in a cluch the flat Headded bird alwasy out does it's nest mate..no matter how typeie..

I have always believed that form follows function as a rule of thumb, It's a good place to start, If they are spinning right then you can start to break them down and look at the all the other things to look for when you want to select breeders. Sometimes you do need to use a certain bird to balance out a pair, but only if you know the family and your birds. I know what you mean about the flat head birds, I get a lot of those, I know a lot of people dont like them but I'm raising them for the spin and I try to follow the spin in my pairings. ---------- They gotta Spin to win.....Jay

It's called back skull, and I love it. Makes for a great looking bird, but I,"I" think it also indicates spin.

Sal, I believe that they kinda go hand in hand. The great ones usually posess the whole package. I always choose the whole package when selecting for the stock loft. Remember it is you that has to look at them everyday. Joe ---------- J.M.Urbon Lofts A Proven Family of Spinners http://www.freewebs.com/jmurbonlofts/

i have to say those birds with lots of backskull do bring the roll most of the time but i hate to look at them . i have to agree with joe on having birds that look good to the breeder if they dont stand out to me on the ground but bring the roll in the air i still dont breed from them i rather give them to some to breed who doesnt care what they look like then bring that look back into my birds and stock the birds bringing some crazy roll and when you see them on the ground you start drulling over them because they stand out like a sore thumb

mr ortiz ,
thats good but that wasnt the ? Most of us do put up what we need to see in our backyards thats cool we all have diffrent taste on what we like. i was just woundering for my self get a feel at what to look for thats all. as you can see not alot of responds on the thread and you know why to many people talking crap about other peoples birds. if people want muffs, yellows, laces, ect. thats on them its what they like. whats making the sport go bad is to many people putting there noses where they shouldnt. as long as your a honest person and be real on what your doing with your birds it all good thats in general not pointing fingers at no one. im just a guy that has enjoyed rollers since i was 8 years old . its getting to the point that i might just go back to being a backyard flyer it was mor fun then a bunch of older guys not getting along it should be fun to share with guys what your doing with your birds how thing are comming along. Not let me watch what i say there touchy right now

actualy Sal, my loft is getting heavier and heavier in that direction. I just don't breed for what I "think" that they should look like any more, many of the English birds run along the same line. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

thanks for your input scott most of my 448 line from steve which goes back to you have a little bit of that look just like this hen i posted i noticed that most of my birds that have the 71, 1092 blood tend to look that way but that is also what is working for me. Im following the roll more then any thing. I put this out there just to see if it is a commen look in the birmingham roller or not. The kiser and borges birds tend to be more drawn out then the family me and you have even though they are cousin lines could it be a throw back of what the old stock looked like just a ?

Sal, I don't have that hen any longer or I would take another picture. She is not pinched faced it's mostly just the camera angle. I will post a picture of her mother and full brother after work.
