Motavation: How do you guy's keep your self motavated in this hobby.. I've noticed that when it comes to the fall fly or the world cup fly it's always a motavation for me because 1. I like the fellowship 2.Compation, competing against other kit's and training your kit to have them in a good performance condition and driving around looking at different kind of lofts and kits. Now this is what happens on those seasons but when it's over... For example: No club's, No meeting's, Nobody willing to attend because problems with certian personal witch in my mind it's all about pride but that's my oppinion.. Or do you guy's think that I should keep to myself in my own backyard? I think it come's down to prideful people... for example what i am trying to say is how can you get motivated in a city that doesnt want to do nothing? Just explain to me roller guy's Im not trying to offend nobody im always open to new suggestions....

155, how long have you been into the roller hobby? I have been in and out for a long time. I got my first rollers at 10yrs old and I am 62 now. Some times family and circumstances dictate your course in life and if you want to be succusful you have to do what you have to do. I never lost interest in the birds even when I didnt have any, I always knew where I could get some good ones when I had time to do it right. I have always flown and for my own enjoyment, I never flew my birds to win competitions or bred to win competitions although I have won my share. I breed for deeper kits trying to maintain the quality of the spin. If my birds can spin once or twice a minute and go 40 Plus ft. Im happy. I have lost a lot of flys on turns or out birds that went too deep. But I'm the one who pays the feed bill and if I'm happy with them thats what counts. The motivation is to aquire more of the birds that I like thru my program. I have missed the fellowship and going on the club flys and I hope to fly with the local club this fall. If you fly for your self everything else will fall into place. ---------- They gotta Spin to win.....Jay

I understand where your coming from.. When I ask for motivation I just was asking for input..I'm not going to give away my birds or nothing like that..I've been in the hobby for 3yrs, but as a kid back in 91 or 92 I had rollers also but only as pet's from my roof to my cage, as I started learning about the hobby more I started liking it more, more then what I use to think about it how I got started up again, is I met in California Manuel Moreno he started taking me to different loft's and I got to see different family of bird's fly I really din't know what a kit ment at the time until I started going around with Manuel so now I got hooked.

I don't have comp here or anyone to see my birds or a friend to sit with me and fly..so what motivates me I say its in my blood..The peace it gives me, the time alone with my pigeons and to bring out the best in my birds .I'm retire but i still get up so early to fly my birds before the sun beats down on there backs..just being a true bird man.thats all... its in my blood..Just loving what you doing.. ---------- ---------- Ralph

You and I are in the same boat, I am simi-retired and live out in the foothills. I have a good place to fly,I dont have the bop problem I hear guys talking about except when the are migrateing in Feb or in the fall then I just change my flying habits and fly more in the evenings they are usually hunting in the morning. Like you said most of the time its just me and my birds, I have friends who have seen them and like them but thats as far as it goes with them, It's in the blood, yours and the birds ---------- They gotta Spin to win.....Jay

to me its everything...because in all ways..its all about fun..and enjoyment with club members and chit chatting about birds..this and that..and about comp's....its about having fun..winning or losing..isnt the fact..for me..for me..its about friendship..that i truely admire..whom i meet or talk to..is the most important thing..that is..
just my thought...
p.s..without my club members..i really wouldnt have gone this far...and with this forum..i could'nt have gone this far with roller education..
have fun with rollers guys..its the best sport i have ever enjoy...

Its the challenge for myself to do better. This is what has always motivated me in everything I have ever done. If someone else can do it so can I. This is what I believe, at least until I prove it to myself otherwise.
You might all win the competitions but only I can beat me. I hope that makes sense. LOL. Its not meant to be offensive or cocky. Just means my biggest competition every day is myself. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

To me its not really motavation but the piece I find in my birds its funny to many who dont know me and were I come from.Even the people who did now me dont understand how a bunch of dam birds could change a man and keep him out of trouble Gangs, drugs, and Prison. My wife does,nt understands it either but she knows who I was then and who I am now and she respects that, these birds will always be a part of my life. So I really believe that these birds help me find the piece in my life that I need to live a normal life.edgar.
